PIXels- “You photograph… I photograph”

Two class sessions ago, my course mates and I had the fun opportunity to practice “Event Photography”

We were taught how to use the “burst”  mode feature on the Linux Digital Camera. The Burst mode, or continuous shooting mode, is a feature found on digital cameras which allows the photographer to shoot a series of photos one after the other.  We acted as “paparazzi”  taking pictures of students accepting awards, a speaker’s panel and some photographs of photographers.

My experience taking these photos were a bit challenging especially during the speaker’s panel. It was hard finding a perfect spot(s) to takes pictures that will capture the rare expressions on the speakers face. It was also challenging to find a vantage point that will not interfere with another photographer’s image. I also realized my camera automatically changed to yellow light and had to reformat it in whiteness for my pictures to appear clearer.

We then took the adventure outside the classroom where our Professor lectured on the importance of being assertive and vocal when taking pictures of people in a group setting.

She showed us different ways your subjects can pose (poses for women, men with jackets, tall and short individuals, etc.) and what makes a great group photograph for different media outlets (facebook, blog, company website etc.)
